Welcome to the UVJC
The Upper Valley Jewish Community is an independent, egalitarian congregation. We are based at the Roth Center for Jewish Life on the campus of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, but we embrace a community of Jews who live throughout the Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire. Our goal is to provide a meaningful, contemporary Jewish experience that celebrates the richness of our faith, history and culture. The UVJC offers religious services, holiday celebrations, educational opportunities for all ages, and a variety of social and cultural programming.
The UVJC maintains a close relationship with Dartmouth Hillel, with Rabbi Edward Boraz serving our joint community. As a house of prayer, learning, and gathering, the UVJC strives to meet the needs of all of its congregants.
Social and Cultural Activity
A variety of social and cultural activities are available for members of every age group over the course of the year at the Roth Center. We kick off the year with a late summer, pot-luck barbecue shortly after Labor Day. Community celebrations mark the major holidays throughout the year. Our annual dinner in the spring often is combined with recognition of exemplary service by one or more of our members.
